ALTRONIC ACQUIRES THE OIL AND GAS DIVISION OF CALGARY, ALBERTA-BASED EXACTA CONTROLS

Acquisition of Exacta’s high-level control systems rounds out Altronic’s line of control and monitoring products for engines, compressors, and critical equipment

Girard, Ohio, December 28, 2002 – Altronic, Inc. of Girard, Ohio is pleased to announce the acquisition of the Oil and Gas Division of Calgary, Alberta-based Exacta Controls. This acquisition includes both the Exacta Series XI and RC2000-series compressor monitoring and control products.

Effective today, these systems will become Altronic products and will be integrated into custom control panels to meet customer specifications. In Canada, the Syntech Division of Enerflex Systems, Ltd. will manufacture and market these Altronic/Exacta-based panels, while in the U. S and internationally, they will be manufactured and marketed by Altronic’s panel manufacturing subsidiary, Altronic Controls, Inc. of Garland, Texas.

· Series XI Controller – While retaining all of the functionality and flexibility of an off-the-shelf programmable logic controller (PLC) and man-machine interface (MMI), the Series XI gas engine/compressor control minimizes programming cost and complexity by requiring only application configuration on the part of the user. Embedding a range of application functions within the core product, much like the Altronic DE-series controllers, this sophisticated yet user-friendly system can be setup and reconfigured by most operating personnel.

· RC2000 Controller – This proprietary product, jointly developed by Exacta and the Canadian compressor packager, Enerflex, is a high level control designed to monitor and control gas engine-driven compressor packages. It is available for use exclusively on compressor packages assembled and marketed by the Enerflex family of companies (Enerflex, BTB, and Jiro).

The acquisition moves Altronic - the world leader in ignition systems for stationary industrial engines – more fully into the engine/compressor controls field, supplementing its market-leading DD and DE-based safety shutdown and monitoring systems, the EPC-100, EPC-200, and AccuNox® air/fuel ratio controllers, and the GOV10/50 and AGV5 electronic governors and fuel valves.
