Over 30 years of ignition design and application experience
Systems for engines of 1 to 20 cylinders, 10 to 10,000 hp
High performance and product reliability
Modular design for ease of maintenance and expandability
Designed and manufactured in Girard, Ohio factory
Altronic, Inc., based in Girard, Ohio has built and maintained
a reputation for product design, quality, reliability and
customer service for over 30 years. In 1966, Altronic introduced
solid-state, capacitor discharge industrial ignition systems
to address an industry need for extended, trouble-free operation.
Altronic's engineering approach was unique: multi-pole permanent
magnet alternators (for system power), solid-state electronics
(replacing mechanical components), and modular design and
construction (for ease of maintenance).
A corporate commitment to engineering and customer service
excellence has helped make Altronic Ignition Systems the
standard as original equipment for most major gas engine
manufacturers around the world. Altronic's application experience
and worldwide distribution network assure successful use
of Altronic products on any spark-ignited industrial engine.
Design Principles
Altronic digital ignition systems have been developed with
the following design philosophy:
Reliability and noise immunity
Noise-filtered microcircuit design controls the basic ignition
function. Microprocessors, operating at high clock speeds,
are used for control purposes only.
Calibrated timing control
Built-in timing switches are detented in fixed increments.
A given switch position always results in the same known
timing position.
Power source flexibility
May be powered from an Altronic engine-driven permanent-magnet
alternator or an externally-supplied source of DC power.
Tolerance to supply voltage variation
DC-powered systems have a regulated input circuit to ensure
constant output over a wide input voltage range of 10-32
Vdc.
Ease of maintenance
Plug-in circuit board modules; quick disconnect connectors;
detachable conduit gland plate; ignition testers for quick
diagnosis of system components.
Corrosion resistance
Corrosion-resistant finishes, stainless steel hardware and
conformal coating of circuit boards are used throughout.
